Gilmer High School FFA attends Area 1 North Region Rally

The Gilmer High School FFA Chapter recently attended the Area 1 North Region FFA Rally. The event was held at the Georgia FFA/FCCLA Center in Covington on September 4-5, 2014. 

At the event 600 FFA members gathered together to participate in Chapter Challenge Events such as the FFA Opening & Closing Ceremony Contest, Mud Course Challenge and the Blob. Students also participated in Leadership/Team Building Activities and an award presentation. 

Gilmer High School participated in the FFA Opening and Closing Ceremony Contest. Gilmer placed in the top two in the preliminary round of the contest and advanced to the finals. Finals were held on stage during the evening assembly in front of 600 spectators in which the team placed second out of the 22 teams competing. Team members included Sadie Lackey, Molly Wright, Alexandria Lewis, Josie Fowler, Shelby Merrell, and Kylie Ash. 

Gilmer also participated in the Amazing Race Team Building Activity and received the 2nd place plaque during the Award presentations. 

At the awards presentation, the recognition of all the chapters that excelled over the past year and awarding the final Chapter of the Year plaque.  Out of 72 FFA Chapters within the region, Gilmer High FFA brought home the award for not only Greatest Participation with 138 students competing, but also brought home the award for Greatest Different Student Involvement of 78 different students.
