ALMS students to attend convention in Anaheim

Twelve middle school students from Armand Larive Middle School (ALMS) will attend the 2017 Student Television Network (STN) convention in Anaheim, California from March 27 through March 31. They will join 3,000 high school and middle school students from across the country for professional workshop sessions and video production contests.

By participating in the contests, students will acquire news gathering skills and learn the importance of meeting deadlines. They will also meet middle school peers and attend some social functions including a trip to Disneyland and a professional baseball game.

This is the second time Armand's ALTV students have participated in the annual convention. Last year, an ALTV crew of 11 students attended the convention in Atlanta, Georgia. As seen in last year's ALTV News, the students visited CNN and Coca-Cola in addition to their convention activities.

As an affiliate of STN, ALTV is part of a nationwide network of schools that produce video production programs for their schools and communities. Currently, ALMS is the only STN affiliate in Oregon, and hence will be the only Oregon school represented at the STN convention in Anaheim.

At the convention, ALTV will be participating in four news production contests: Crazy 8s, Spot Feature, Nat Package, and Anchor Team. The students have been preparing for the convention for several months.

The Opening Ceremony, Awards, and Closing Ceremony will be streamed live on ESE Networks. The STN livestream and schedule can also be accessed through ALTV's ESE Networks website.
